Some Really Collaborative/Experiential Interactions

My friend is in grad school at MassArt...she and a classmate had to be tethered together for a whole week. A whole week! They experienced life and made all work together? Gah, could I do this, could you? Discuss.

From the Desk of Katie, Kelsey and Jason

We went to Super G Mart on Thursday, March 17th from 2-6pm. We played interactive games mostly with children...and each other. Our goal was to escape from the stress of everyday life.

We will be there again this coming Thursday afternoon, March 24th! Come play with us!!!
Check out this video of the kids playing the mirror game at super g mart!

Oliver Herring

Among Oliver Herring's earliest works were his woven sculptures and performance pieces in which he knitted Mylar, a transparent and reflective material, into human figures, clothing and furniture. Since 1998, Herring has created stop-motion videos, photo-collaged sculptures, and impromtu participatory performances with "off-the-street" strangers, embracing chance and chance encounters in his work. http://artforum.com/video/mode=large&id=20106

Joseph Rodriguez

Joseph Rodriguez’s New York accent is thick, very thick. However, the Brooklyn born photographer is a citizen of the world, and his work speaks to that fact. He started taking pictures, in earnest, in the mid 1980’s and has produced several books of documentary photography. Each on different subjects, but always adhering to a specific message: learn from this. http://www.americansuburbx.com/2011/03/interview-joseph-rodriguez-2011.html

Hillbilly Heroin, Honey: Hannah Modigh (Journal #8)

This project is not without its flaws. Modigh has stated that this idea came from an interest in photographing poor white people, but in a press release Modigh (or her gallery) made the poor choice of referring to her subjects as "white trash." While this cannot fairly be construed as an insult, it does point to a misunderstanding of this American pejorative if not also her subjects place in American culture. The title Hillbilly Heroin, Honey, a reference to Oxycodone, is another peculiar aspect.http://www.hannahmodigh.se/ (her work) and the article for journal response: http://blog.photoeye.com/2011/01/best-books-closer-look-hillbilly-heroin.html
